So, the winners and the drama...

Yes, I'm a little behind, but I've had a real life lately. I love Nashville, but apparently there are other things for me to do here besides drink whiskey and listen to bands. That's what I've been doing lately, and it's fun.

But I did want to revisit the the CMA Awards, partly because there was DRAMA, and partly because one of my friends missed the whole thing while doing mission work in Jamaica.

I did pretty well on my predictions. Here's a list of the real winners. There were a few things that shocked me just a little.

Entertainer: Kenny Chesney (he and Vanessa looked really cute. I'm not talking about him not paying attention to her; we don't know what happened off-camera, and I'm pretty sure he entertained her when they got home.)

Album: Time Well Wasted, Brad Paisley (not the CD I picked, but Brad deserved it.)

Female vocalist: Carrie Underwood (more on this later)

Horizon Award: Carrie Underwood

Vocal Event: Dolly and Brad for "When I Get Where I'm Going"

Male Vocalist: Keith Urban (everyone cried when Ronnie Dunn read Keith's speech.)

Vocal Duo: Brooks and Dunn (Is anyone shocked?)

Vocal Group: Rascal Flatts

Video of the Year: 8th of November, Big & Rich

Song of the Year: Believe written by Craig Wiseman and Ronnie Dunn

Single of the Year, Brooks & Dunn

Musician of the Year: Randy Scruggs, Guitar (one of the surprises of the evening to me)

The Awards went well. Everyone looked pretty. I could've lived without Kellie Pickler on the red carpet. I'm glad I didn't head down there because I might've strangled her to make her shush. She's annoying.

Apparently, though, I wasn't the only person annoyed by American Idol winners that night.

As you see, Carrie Underwood won female vocalist. And Faith Hill, who was backstage and on-camera like all the nominees, went ape-shit. There's no other polite way to put it. She looked like Baby Jane. Afterward, it was discussed for several days, and Faith said she was joking. Martina said she was joking. Tim said she was joking. The president of the Country Music Association said she was joking.

Only Leann Rimes had the balls to say that it was BS that Carrie won, and when her blog started to get attention, the entry disappeared.

This is what I think happened. I think Faith thought she had it locked up. When you look at the list of nominees, it wasn't a stretch for her to think that. When she didn't win, she freaked. I don't blame her, really. Carrie Underwood didn't deserve to win. But the difference of me saying that and Faith's reaction is that Faith was on-camera and millions of people saw her.

If you haven't seen it, go here. I'd be curious to see what other people think on this. I don't think she was joking, but I'd much rather she apologized than tried to cover her tracks. And I really hate that other people felt compelled to back her up.

My CMA Picks

OK, I could be totally wrong, but I'm going to try. I've got a few minutes before the show starts. I decided to watch it at home because it's raining out and I can't wear my PJs downtown. (Well, I can, but people stare...)

So, here are my picks.

Entertainer of the Year: Kenny Chesney. I think Kenny will win again, but I wouldn't be surprised if Brad Paisley wins. Either of them deserves it. The other three nominees? Well, they should feel proud just to be nominated.

Female Vocalist: The voters love Martina. This award would make her the woman with the most female vocalist trophies.

Male Vocalist: Keith Urban. He didn't go into rehab until after most of the ballots were in. He's still a good singer even though he hasn't done much since he won last year.

Horizon Award: I'd like to see Josh Turner or Little Big Town win, but most likely it will be Carrie Underwood or maybe Sugarland.

Vocal Group: Anyone but Rascal Flatts. They will probably win. If not, it will be Sugarland. In my heart, I'd love for it to be Little Big Town.

Duo of the Year: Brooks and Dunn will win, although I like all of the other nominees much more.

Single of the Year: Believe by Brooks and Dunn.

Musician of the Year: Perennial favorite Jerry Douglas on dobro.

Album of the Year: I think The Road and the Radio deserves it, but Brooks and Dunn seem to be white-hot this year.

Video of the Year: The only video on that list that I like is "8th of November," so I really hope it wins.

Vocal Event of the Year: "When I Get Where I'm Going," Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.

Song of the Year: I'd be happy with "8th of November" or "When I Get Where I'm Going," but Carrie Underwood will probably win this. She's hot too, and I'd rather she won this than anything else she's up for.
